Collaboration with Penguin Random House

Shivani Pathak

We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with Penguin Random House, India, one of the largest English language trade publishers in the subcontinent, as our sales and distribution partners. Aligning with our vision of creating urban and place consciousness, we look forward to this collaboration as with PRH we will now reach out to more interested people. PRH considers our work an ‘idea project’ and community building, something that will generate fresh and engaging content under their banner.

This May we had our first meeting that discussed our vision for the year 2017-18. From The People Place Project team, Tarun Gupta, Nisha Nair Gupta and Ritesh Singh met the Penguin sales and distribution head Nandan Jha and the Product Manager Bhaskar Bhatt to discuss the collaboration. In the meeting, new ideas and concepts were also ideated upon.

This year will move forward with the release of People Called Shillong in September, a re-launch of People Called Mumbai with Penguin Random House. Also look forward to the Marathi version of People Called Mumbai and the children’s version of People Called Mumbai that is being worked with the publisher FunOKPlease. We will also be working towards the curatorial of the four metro cities- Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Kolkata. A campaign called ‘My People My Place’ will be introduced for the same; we hope to collect several interesting stories from the people about their respective cities through this. In curating these metros, we hope to reach the heart and soul of the city and bring it out through the stories of its people, we hope to bring a new perspective towards these cities which otherwise have a set description- of being too busy, noisy and huge; of making your individual existence seem trifling among the millions of lives around you- we hope to set forth that metro cities, however huge, are accommodative of every dream and identity that lives within them.

Keep reading the space for more updates about the projects and don’t forget to check out our campaign, who knows you might have a story living within or around you!
