A walk through
vasai-virar
This book is an extension of the ’Heritage Circuits of Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Vasai-Virar’ map prepared by MMR-HCS in collaboration with Environ Design Architects. This book will act as an extended narrative guide or a ‘handbook’ of essential information that you should know while exploring the region of Vasai-Virar.
The book primarily is a guide book for the tourists, to enjoy the cultural legacy of the city. It is based on the primary heritage listing done by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Heritage Conservation Society.
Each chapter begins with an introduction to a trail, outlined in its historic importance. The chapter then lists the important historic and heritage buildings and structures on the trail, organised along a walking route beginning from a landmark in the precinct.
Boxes highlight interesting stories around these buildings, and provide context to events and happenings that took place in the precinct, and to club buildings, roads or statues of minor importance together.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region - Heritage Conservation Society (MMR-HCS) is a society established by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). The objectives of this Society are: Promoting preservation, conservation, protection, development and improvement of natural, built and related cultural heritage within the MMR.
